EPDM Rubber Profile - Ahmedabad Project Guide

EPDM RUBBER PROFILE

EPDM Profiles are the least visible part of the system, and is often understand as the least important part as well. However, this cannot be further away from the truth. Khajit Chem Pvt Ltd. seeks to shed light on this matter, and inform Fabricators, Builders, Architects & Manufacturers of the importance of using high-quality Microwave Cured EPDM Profiles in their Systems.

Many of the features that manufacturers boast about, such as: Sound-Proofing, Temperature Insulation, and Energy Efficiency are in fact directly related to the accurate fitment of the profiles. EPDM is also a good choice for HVAC gaskets because of its support for thermal expansion and contraction and its resistance to vibration. These rubber gaskets secure the mobile equipment against water, wind, mud, dust, and a range of outdoor temperatures. EPDM gaskets also provide a measure of acoustic insulation against equipment sounds and road noise. So why then is there a trend to spend uncompromisingly on High Quality Aluminium or U-PVC Channels, the most Advanced Glass Technology, and utilising the Best Accessories, while simultaneously maintaining a complete lack of interest in the Quality of Profiles associated with the final product?

This occurs not because of a deliberate avoidance of the quality of profiles, but due to a wide variety of profiles available in the market. How then do you decide which one is best for you? Is it as simple as the more you pay, the better the quality? But how can you be sure you are not simply over-paying for a substandard product?

The key is to look into the manufacturing process involved and the Standards that are maintained. This article seeks to raise awareness and build on a theoretical understanding of the differences caused due to the various manufacturing techniques of profiles. How the profile is cured will determine its Tensile Strength, Durability, and ability to withstand Temperature and Ozone conditions. A quality profile will not crack even after many years, which otherwise could be disastrous to the reputation of the manufacturer. Imagine the warranty on a state of- the-art window system being void because of the failure of a profile!

EPDM - Ethylene Propylene Diene Monomer, is a synthetic rubber that was developed solely for outdoor application. Therefore, this has widely been accepted as the only form of rubber used in the construction industry. Only when the highest grade of EPDM is sourced, can the final product guarantee its quality.

However, simply sourcing high quality EPDM will not work. Many chemicals are involved in the manufacturing process, and for these ingredients to interact in a desired manner depends on the Manufacturing Standards and Curing Technique followed.

Simultaneously, there are two types of Curing Techniques.
  1. The Conventional Steam Cured (Autoclave) Technique
  2. The Superior Microwave Cured Technique

Microwave Curing is done through a Continuous Vulcanisation Line, the advantages of which are as follows:
  1. Dimensional Stability
  2. More Superior Physical Properties due to use of Upgraded Quality Raw Materials & Compounds.
  3. Higher Production Outputs.

This Manufacturing Process along with following the Standards ensures that Profiles have following Properties:
  1. High Resistance to Ozone, Weathering & Abrasion.
  2. Temperature Resistance from -40°C to +100°C
  3. Resistance to UV Radiations.

Rhino Profiles can give a waranty for a minimum of 10 years of performance in application resulting in no cracks.

Applications where it can be used:
  1. Automobiles-OEMS & Government Transport Sector
  2. Railways
  3. Wind
  4. Ship Building Industry (Marine)
  5. Architectural-Door & Window Manufacturers in Aluminium & U-PVC.
  6. Construction Industry
  7. Electrical Panels
  8. HVAC - Heating Ventilation & Air Conditioning
